Hello Reader Kathleen talks about blood pressure and a product to boost your immune system at this time of the year when we are more susceptible to colds and flu. Peter tells you about this week’s guest, guests who will be on the show over the next three weeks, and this week’s featured author. Kathleen's Deep Dive Into Holistic Health Kathleen uncovers a report that challenges the assumption that high blood pressure causes heart disease. In an article by Dr. Mercola, she comments that a large trial indicated that medications to reduce moderately high blood pressure had a slight effect on reducing the incidence of strokes, but no discernible effect on reducing heart attacks. Blood pressure levels of 158/98 for men and 166/59 for women were considered moderately high. Lowering systolic blood pressure to less than 90 is considered dangerous. One of the side effects of blood pressure medications in those over 70, is fainting with a risk of falling resulting in serious injury or even death. Read the article at the link below. This Week's Recommended Health Product With the advent of colder weather in the northern hemisphere increasing the risk of colds and flu, Kathleen recommends boosting the immune system. Dr. Morse's The Lymph Drainage formulas support healthy lymphatic tissues and nodes throughout the body. The lymphatic system is an integral part of the immune system, making this formula an immune supplement as well.
